Pingshan’s cultural landscape has been significantly enriched. With the opening of the Shenzhen Natural History Museum, the Pingshan Cultural House, and the Xinqiao Ancestral Residence cultural block, the district has expanded its public cultural facilities.
The Shenzhen Pingshan District Charity Association · Pingshan Library Development Fund has pioneered a new model for leveraging non-governmental organizations to deliver public cultural services.
Signature cultural events — including the Pingshan Art Museum’s “Art Takeaway 2.0” series, concerts, and dance performances — have earned widespread acclaim.
Efforts are under way to bring cultural events into local communities, industrial parks, schools, and commercial areas, helping form a multi-tiered public cultural service system. Ongoing programs such as “Books and Talks in Pingshan” and “Art Takeaway” continue to engage the public. New approaches to intangible cultural heritage are also being explored, with quality projects cultivated through training workshops and heritage transmission bases.
Sports
The sports sector in Pingshan is gaining momentum. The Pingshan Sports Complex and the Pingshan Sports Park will provide new venues for the public. Major events, including the rhythmic gymnastics competitions of the 15th National Games, have been successfully held here. The Shenzhen Subdistrict Super League has been named one of Shenzhen’s Top 10 Signature Sports Events for two consecutive years.
Maluan Mountain has been designated a core area for the development of high-quality outdoor sports destinations. More sports venues in schools and other organizations are opening to the public, with convenient online booking available.
Key initiatives include collaboration events between the national badminton team and local schools, more international matches, a mass fitness program, and the addition of new public sports venues.
Tourism
Tourism branding in Pingshan is advancing steadily. The Maluan Mountain Theater Creation and Rehearsal Center and the Longma Studio Guoli Theater Troupe have been launched. Changshou Dramaville continues to stage high-quality drama shows and events, earning provincial recognition for its achievements in culture, tourism, and consumption.
Seasonal promotional campaigns — combined with a “ticket-stub economy” — integrate culture, sports, and commerce to boost spending on dining and accommodation. Specialty routes, including low-altitude sightseeing and industrial tours, have also contributed to revenue growth across the cultural, sports, and entertainment sectors.
Pingshan will accelerate the revitalization of ancient villages, with projects such as homestays and nature-themed theaters. The district is positioning itself as a premier rustic luxury destination in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Plans are in place for international theater festivals and carnivals under a “four seasons” cultural tourism IP, while efforts continue to develop outdoor sports destinations and expand industrial tourism routes.
